Sinking Ships - Small Set

A real hit with our partner settings, these chunky boats are great for exploring floating and sinking. As children add weights, pebbles, marbles or sand to the plastic containers the buoyancy of the ships will be affected. Children can explore how much weight needs to be added to cause the ships to sink completely and whether using different materials as weights causes them to sink more quickly. Children could even play a game by taking it in turns to roll a dice and add the number of weights shown on the dice to their ship. Whose ship can stay afloat the longest? This small set includes two different cork ships. A larger set is also available.

Set contains

  • 2 cork ships with plastic containers to hold weights
  • Sustainably sourced, recyclable material
  • Cork is a ‘closed cell’ so won’t soak up water when used outdoors
  • Safe, tactile material suitable for even the youngest children
  • Weights not included
  • Largest ship is 22cm long
