Kiddi Caru Day Nursery, Buckinghamshire

Louise Higgins, Senior Nursery Manager answers a few questions about their new outdoor space.

Why did you want to develop your nursery garden?
Our old play area was in a poor state as it was old, also the surface was becoming a concern.

What were the key elements that made Playforce stand out from the other tenders?

The key reasons were price and dates to have the work completed by.

How are you using the space to deliver outdoor learning and educational play?
With the new surface the children will be able to use the outdoor space more, before we had soft pour and in the summer it became very hot and in the winter very slippery. With the
outdoor shelter area, this gives the children protection in all weathers and the opportunity to learn outdoors as well as a wider range of activities, from listening to sounds while sitting
in the new area to exploring their imaginations.

What are the biggest benefits you have seen for the children?
A safer learning environment for them to explore and learn.

Can you share any practice insights you have gained and describe your Playforce experience?
On the whole it has been a good experience, from the start of the process the Outdoor Grounds Consultant provided us with everything we requested, and when we needed to change items, Neil updated the information and quote very quickly. Unfortuntely, there was a delay with our installation, the start date was changed twice, and for myself it was important the work to be carried out before Christmas, so this did become a little stressful, but Playforce did complete the work by the Christmas close down.
