Carrant Brook Junior School, Gloucestershire

Playforce Outdoor Grounds Consultant James Chalk tells us about the recent outdoor developments at Carrant Brook Junior School.

The school's outdoor play area had limited play equipment.

The area consisted of an existing tyre trail that they wanted to retain but incorporate new structures and challenges as well as allow access to the area all year round.

I was asked to create an area that fostered independence and would inspire children's imagination as well as encouraging the children to be more physically active at break times.

‘Playforce have been very helpful and accommodating.’ Mrs Budd, Headteacher Carrant Brook Junior School.

We listened to their ideas and suggestions to ensure we could provide the best level of provision for the children but within their budget.

The play space is now freely accessible, and all children can access the area. The children are really enjoying their new facility and can’t wait for their turn to use the equipment!

The new play equipment now enables the children to explore the four main climbing disciplines; traversing, scrambling, bouldering and overhang climbing, improving physical literacy. Having an all-weather surface also means children can now go outside in all weathers.

The playground development at Carrant Brook Junior School included a range of different equipment, including:

Tangle Tree Climber

Up & Over Bars

Half Octagonal Stage with 4x Panels

Tipi with Detachable Cover

Play Lawn surfacing

The school also took advantage of our special offer for a free Athletic Development day with our friends at Game Changer Performance.
