What’s happening in your area? - Avon and Buckinghamshire

01 August 2016

At Playforce we pride ourselves in making playtime fun across the UK. We’ve developed playgrounds in all four corners of the country as we’ve embarked on projects big and small.

This week we’re focusing on our Early Years developments in Avon and Buckinghamshire, counties that are close to our own home. We’ve helped a range of schools develop their playgrounds across the South but here are a few of our favourites…

Stockenchurch Community Pre-School, Buckinghamshire

A new playground at Stockenchurch Community Pre- School has not only resolved their health and safety concerns, it has improved the quality of play for their children in all weathers.

They purchased a specially designed EYFS Discovery Cabin. The children use the tower slide in a range of imaginative ways. They transform the cabin into a variety of different shops. Some days it is an ice-cream shop, others a greengrocers - they enjoy imaginative play together.

Avonmouth Children’s Centre, Bristol

With a blank state to work with and ideas raring to go, Avonmouth Children’s Centre were ready to transform their outdoor space into something amazing. They wanted to create a garden for their Early Years children that would be an interactive and exciting space.

They use the garden for our community groups in a range of different activities. They are growing vegetables in the planters and the willow dome is now sprouting so they are transferring all of this activity back to the classroom where they discuss and record our discoveries. The garden is accessible to all ages so they have even been able to use it to get their 2-year-old nursery children outside and interacting with nature.

Farmborough Playgroup, Bath

After seeing that their old playground was beginning to look sad and tired, Farmborough Playground in Bath decided it was time to re-vamp their outdoor space. They wanted to create an area that could be enjoyed by the children in any weather, whilst being flexible enough to be used in all areas of learning.

All of the children at Farmborough Playgroup love to play, and they love it even more when they can do it outside. Their new playground has meant that they are able to play outside whatever the weather and this, in turn, has given their play more purpose.
