New Year’s Resolutions Tips for Getting Active

Getting active with Playforce

At Playforce we’re the experts of outdoor play and we’re here to make sure your school gets active as part of your New Year’s resolutions. Not all children are keen on sports, but that doesn’t mean they have to miss out on being active this year. Here are a few of our best tips…

Den Making

Building a den is a fantastic way to ensure the children get active, as well as get some fresh air. Den building encourages role play, which can hone creative skills and develop the imagination. Making a den from scratch involves physical effort, but it’s perfect for children who aren’t naturally sporty.

From playing shopkeepers to being a mechanic, role play is an endless source of fun. Children will imitate what they see in real life, opening up a world of learning. Whether it’s washing cars or sailing the seven seas, role play boosts social and logic skills, as well as making sure everyone stays active.

Building Time

Building blocks, such as the Cork House Bricks set, inspire children to create houses, forts and so much more. This is a great way for children to use their muscles and get some exercise whilst constructing some marvelous buildings!

Outdoor Board Games

Board games are popular with all ages and there’s no reason why they can’t be taken outside. Life size outdoor board games such as chess and dominoes and even Yahtzee can be a big part of outdoor play. They successfully combine numeracy skills with physical activity - a winner in our books!

Obstacle Courses

Creating an outdoor obstacle course for the children can teach them teamwork, hand-eye coordination and much more. Our scrambler sets can be tailored to suit the children’s needs - you can add and take away any elements you like.
