Why Playforce

Working out how to take the classroom outside can be tricky, particularly with ever-changing learning outcomes and objectives. We’ve thought about all the ways that you can use your playground for teaching, so that it can support curriculum provision, and put our suggestions down in these new sets of resource cards.

Our new learning guides have been produced in partnership with Youth Sport Direct and The Youth Sport Trust and are specifically linked to the KS1 and KS2 curriculums.

The learning guides include ten resource cards and focus on Mathematics, Literacy and Art and Design.

The cards have been designed to provide ideas and inspiration for using play equipment to teach curriculum subjects in the open air. They are not intended to be complete lesson plans or a replacement for current good practice in delivering the National Curriculum. They should, however, provide you with suggestions for stimulating and engaging ways to help your children to explore the topics in a positive learning environment.

What do you need to know about these cards?

  • Each of the nine cards focus on a different area of the subject . The nine topics are listed on the right hand side of the introduction card.
  • The front of each card shows orange ‘Hot Spots’, which highlight the variety of learning that can take place and present headline ideas.
  • The reverse of the card provides more detailed suggestions for how these themes might be developed and taught.
  • We have included a section on associated language and vocabulary, as well as guidance on safety issues and necessary equipment and materials.
Buy these for £50 each set, £90 for two or £120 for all three by calling us on 01225 792660.
