Turn £5 into new playground!
Fêtes and entertainment evenings can bring in significant amounts of money for schools, but at a price. Is it true that to make money you have to spend lots first? Here are some ideas to turn just £5 into a great deal more, each one taking you a step closer to your new playground.
Bucket & sponge
Provide a car washing service after school, once per month. Charge £5 per car and see the profits roll in!
Wash 20 cars per month for a year and raise £1,000!
Teddy bear
Each term, buy a teddy bear, choose a name and charge people to guess its name from a choice of 50 in order to win! At £1 per guess and 50 names up for grabs it’s sure to be a money-spinner.
£50 raised per term adds £150 to the pot!
Nail file & polish
At the end of each term offer a manicure service to hard-working mums for a donation of £5. A bottle of nail polish will go a long way!
Paint 20 sets of nails each term and raise £300 over the year!
Fork & trowel
Each term, pupils could offer to weed the gardens of friends and family for a donation of £5 per hour. The greater the number of weeds, the greater the donation!
A total of 20 hours of weeding per term gives you another £300!
Paper & pen
Write to local businesses inviting them to sponsor your playground. In return for a donation of £250 you could provide an advert in your school newsletter or on the school website.
Aim for 5 sponsors at £250 and you’ve reached £1,250.
Complete all these activities and you’ve raised £3,000!
Top Tip: Involve the children as much as possible and keep their focus on achieving the goal of fun new equipment that they want – you could even ask them to come up with their own fundraising ideas or involve them in choosing the items!
