Sam, your Outdoor Grounds Consultant

My role is to help you create an outstanding play area and ensure that everyone involved enjoys the journey. As well as heading up our consultant team, I work alongside Louise and Chris, as well as local installation teams and head office experts to create the perfect design for your setting. I have been at Playforce for seven years and my two children agree I have the best job ever! From working with 1000s of organisations, I have extensive knowledge to share about delivering the curriculum outdoors. I also have insights into grants, and, as an avid fundraiser for my church, can suggest ideas for PTA fundraising. For me, it is incredibly rewarding to return to a school to see the positive impact of a previous project.

What is the best thing about my region?

In central England there is an invigorating diversity of culture, pace and challenges. One day I am supporting a school with 40 children, the next 800 children.

What is my top tip?

Think holistically; consider phasing your project and resist buying something quickly. Play equipment should last for at least 10 years; do not limit yourself by thinking you need to get all zones completed in one year’s budget.

My favourite outdoor memory?

In an outdoor science lesson, I vividly remember studying the ecology of an oak tree. Exploring the habitat the tree supported, we collected rubbings, creatures and vegetation. These were then used for outdoor art and English activities (our mini-beast table would have been perfect!).
