Child Safety Week Making playground safety simple

09 June 2017

This week marks the Child Accident Prevention Trust’s (CAPT) annual Child Safety Week. An annual community education initiative to raise awareness of the risks of child accidents and how they can be prevented. They provide a range of resources to help practitioners run local activities and events and promote safety messages in a fun and engaging way.

The CAPT say, “We are asking friends, families, communities and professionals to show they care by playing their part in keeping children safe and sharing their experience and knowledge – not just about the horrors of accidents, but also the really practical, simple things they do to prevent them.”

At Playforce we’ve always believed that safety comes first and health and safety standards are at the top of our priority list.  We promote the importance of ensuring that your playground is well maintained, regularly inspected and monitored. We have an extensive list of accreditations and design to BSEN 1176/1177 standards.

After every new playground installation we instruct customers on recommended maintenance and inspection programmes. We offer a variety of Playforce Care Inspection Packages to give you peace of mind that you are adhering to current standards in maintaining your space and caring for the children using it. We can carry out a one-off post-installation inspection for your playground, deliver an annual inspection by an independent RPII-certified inspector or put something more regular in place with one-to-one training for a member of your staff.

This year’s Child Safety Week theme is ‘Safe children : sharing is caring.’ Sharing knowledge and experience is key to ensuring that everyone is up-to-date with the latest regulations and best ways to keep your play space safe. At Playforce we pride ourselves in our extensive experience as consultants and are able to offer first hand-advice to anyone developing a new playground.

For customers who want to carry out simple maintenance tasks on their playground themselves, we have compiled and shared a series of short videos. These are designed to guide customers through easy tasks such as tightening bolts, checking splits in timber posts and cleaning surfaces. You can view these videos here. Our Annual Inspection Package can also include training to allow your staff to undertake weekly and monthly routine inspections on your play space.

Our customer account managers are available to talk about any maintenance or inspection needs. To speak to someone about your playground call us on 01225 792660 or drop us an email on sales@playforce.co.uk.
