Why did you want to develop your playground?

Our playground at Loddington CE Primary School was quite bare and we really wanted to provide the children with an outdoor stimulus where they could play happily and creatively. We had made previous efforts to enliven the limited space but it was still lacking play value to fire our pupils’ young imaginations.

What were the key elements that made Playforce stand out from other providers?

The team at Playforce was able to spot which parts of our previous developments had worked and which hadn’t. From this they were able to design a plan that would make the most of the space we had available and fill it with high quality equipment. It was refreshing to work with a company that is as passionate about ensuring children’s happiness as we are.

Since installing the new playground we have had much healthier, happier pupils.

How are you using the space to deliver outdoor learning and educational play?

We have used the different equipment from Playforce to divide the playground into clearly defined areas for play. At one end we have the Shop Counter and Chalk Board where we encourage social play. Here the children enjoy role play and being creative while improving their social skills. At the other end we have the Rollover Bridge that invites the pupils to get adventurous and explore the equipment.

What are the biggest benefits you have seen for the children?

Since installing the new playground we have had much healthier, happier pupils. The children love their outdoor space and we have seen a massive improvement in their creativity. We’re amazed by their imaginative ideas and they have found some really unique ways to use the equipment.

Can you share any best practice insights you’ve gained?

Get as many people involved in the fundraising as possible. Not only will you raise a great budget for your playground you can also create a sense of community around the development. We included the children, parents, the Bursar and PTA to ensure that everyone had a say in the final result.
