Casterton Primary School, Lancashire

The children at Casterton Primary School love their new playground equipment that they use for outdoor learning and educational play. Headteacher Mrs Crooks tells us how the new outdoor space has been a fantastic incentive for the children.

Why did you want to develop your playground?

We wanted to make playtimes at Casterton Primary School more interesting and a really positive experience for the children. We wanted to create an outdoor space that would encourage the children to be more active and enjoy exercise in a natural environment.

What were they key elements that made Playforce stand out from other providers?

The range and quality of Playforce equipment is second to none. After looking through the brochure and the website we could easily mix and match the perfect combination for our playground. The high quality equipment is going to last long into our school’s future, it’s fantastic value for money.

Can you share any best practice insights you’ve gained?

We ensure that there is a member of staff overseeing the equipment at all times to check the focus group are working and playing on it correctly and fairly. The staff member also encourages the children to use the equipment in a variety of ways. We’ve been very effective using the equipment as an incentive, we use it for ‘golden times’.
