Play Pathfinder

The Play England play pathfinder scheme, launched by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF), has been operating since 2008. It's aim is to improve adventure playgrounds accross the UK. Many Councils and organisations have yet to capitalise on the funding available to improve play spaces in the UK.

There are however 30 local authorities across the country running Play Pathfinder schemes and offering over £2 million in funding grants.

The playbuilder scheme is being run by 43 local authorities. The purpose of playbuilder funding is to enhance 3,500 play areas in the coming years to allow children to play in more outdoor and indoor play spaces.  The scheme aims to develop adventure playgrounds or play parks aimed at 8-13 year olds in disadvantaged areas by working with councils to ensure play areas are stimulating, exciting and attractive to children.

The funding is available as part of the 'Children's play' plan which has been alocated £235 million allocated by the UK Government.

Playground and play area experts

Developing & designing play areas which meet the 'Children's play' plan criteria is not easy. Each play area should be bespoke to the area and surroundings that it inhabits; a 'one size fits all' approach will not work. Our play experts understand the best way to develop and design bespoke playgrounds; this will result in a play area that answers the organisations requirements, but most importantly, the children who use it.
